On my business cards are written the words “Business Success Partner”. I am very proud of being one of the team of Oxygen8 Business Success Partners. But just what is a Business Success Partner, and how can we help your business?
Sometimes, what a business owner really needs is someone to TALK with about their business. Someone who can listen and ask the right questions, and steer the business owner back onto the right track when they veer off it. That’s what we do.
A Business Success Partner will follow, more or less, a system called the Business Success Programme. This starts with looking at what you, the business owner, want in life, and how your business can be set up to help you achieve those life goals. Then a comprehensive business plan is created, that gives more details about how we will meet the business goals. Your Business Success Partner will then work with you, meeting a couple of times a month, to help you to implement that plan.
But what is the difference between a business partner and a Business Success Partner?
A business partner is someone with some “skin in the game”. Someone who has invested financially, and expects a return on their investment. They also expect to have a say in the major decisions in the business. A Business Success Partner is someone who is on your team, side-by-side, who will guide you towards making decisions that support the business plan. But they do not actually make the decisions for you – you retain control.
A Business Success Partner could be just what you need to get your business to the “next level” – whatever that looks like for you.
Is a Business Success Partner like an Accountability Partner?
Yes and no. Benjamin Hardy wrote a wonderful article “Accountability Partners are Great. But “Success” Partners Will Change Your Life”. In it, he says “Accountability … can feel like a drag. It feels like a job. Success partners are about excitement, energy, and movement. Not perfection. Success partners measure the “gain” and movement made toward big dreams, not the “gap” of what they aren’t doing good enough.”
And, working with an Oxygen8 Business Success Partner is about working on YOUR business, not on theirs. Sure, you will get to know each other well, and a rapport will develop, but the focus is always on your business.
Oxygen8’s Business Success Partners
One of the things I like most about working as a Business Success Partner with Oxygen8 is the team. We have (at last count) 26 consultants with a wide variety of backgrounds. I know that no matter what I encounter when dealing with a client, if it is something that I personally have not come across before, there will be someone on the team who can advise me. In return, I can offer my own extensive background in IT to other team members.
Another great thing at Oxygen8 is that we effectively have an informal network of clients. If any of my clients need someone who does “x”, I simply ask the question and there is a good chance that someone else at Oxygen8 knows someone who can help.
